Bio: I am a participant from the 1998 GTE Big Ride Across America to benefit the American Lung Association. During that cross-country bicycle adventure from Seattle to Washington, D. C., I discovered a self who was patient, loving, and most of all present. This self didn't feel a need to make comparisons between herself and others and was happy and confident in who she was and what her body could do.
Unfortunately, I did not bring that self home with me. I have seen flashes of her in the intervening years, but she is not with me often enough.
Now, ten years later, I am dedicating this summer to finding her again and helping to bring her home once and for all. It's time.
This summer my quest will be a spiritual journey rather than a physical one. Still, I invite you to visit my fundraising page and make a donation to support the American Lung Association--because whether you are pedaling a bicycle or merely trying to stay present in the moment, breathing is vital.
